An introduction from Tammy
Hello everyone, and welcome to Dehydrate2Store.com! In this area of the site I will be adding BLOGS periodically. For those who don’t know, a blog is an online “web log”. When I learn some new facts, when I have updates about the site, want to contact my viewers, or have any other important information I think my viewers should know I will be posting it here. Part of the reason I feel it is important to dehydrate food is to secure your families in case of emergencies, as a former avid stock trader I am also interested in the changing economy. Therefore, I may also be posting updates about the current economical situation of the U.S. to keep my viewers updated. The blogs on this page will be organized by date, and each entry may be searched for in the search bar. Also you can post comments on each entry. Thank you for your support, and enjoy the site!

Congratulations! Tammy! It's great-!! So attractive and informative!! I have been checking for your new website AT LEAST once a day since I heard about it--probably for 3 weeks or more--and am thrilled that it's here at last! You and your web-designer did a fantastic job! I cannot imagine the tremendous amount of work put into this! I'm so excited and can hardly wait to look at all the video's and check out the recipes, tips, etc.

I just want to Congratulate my mom and brother for doing such a wonderful job with the website. You are both truly inspirational and mean the world to me. Steven you are the smartest person I know and I want to thank you for giving mom the confidence to share her knowledge with the world. I love you both very much!

I ran across a link to your videos on You Tube a few months ago. I am so Happy that you have a site with all the information and videos available here. I purchased a dehydrator a while back but did not feel confident about how to dehydrate and how to use what I dehydrate. SO now I can begin. I can and will refer to your videos and instructions and blog continually .
Thank you!! Jennlala
I will be linking to your site on my blog. I have dehydrated corn, green beans, peas, bananas, lemons and zucchini since I watched your you tube videos and was inspired to dehydrate again.
Thank you for the great information and videos. You have done a wonderful job. I appreciate your time and effort and expense to make this all available to us.
Blessings to you.

Hi Tammy,
Your site is awesome. I subscribe to you on Youtube (Gammy2Cuties) I am so excited you put this site together.
Thanks for sharing with all of us!
Debbie
I am so excited about your new website! I have been watching your videos on youtube recently and it has inspired me to purchase a good dehydrator and start drying. In addition I teach Preparedness Classes in my area and am teaching one on Drying Foods in July. I am definitely NOT the expert you are, but you have made it look so easy and I think it is an important to skill to have. I am so excited to pass on this website to my email list (if you don't mind of course).
Hi Tammy. I am so excited to see that your site is up. I have been canning for 5 years now and I love it. My problem is that all those jars have taken up all my extra room so I started putting them out in the garage. You guessed it, the jars all froze and broke the first winter in there. So, then, I started freezing everything. My freezer was just full of all the yummies from my garden. Last summer we had a week-long power outage due to tornadoes and storms and I lost everything. I was heartbroken. This past Christmas my kids gifted me with a 5 shelf Nesco dehydrator and I was drying bananas and apples by December 26th. I am loving it. Besides being an avid veggie gardener I am also an herbalist and, I must say, drying the herbs is so much nicer now. My daughter sent me the url to your YouTube videos and I was totally obsessed with watching them for the next four days. You gave so much info that doesn't come in any books. I am sold on long term storage and now I'm hinting for an Excalibur for my birthday in August. I thank you for getting your site up and running. It is fantastic
Dear Tammy:
I am up to my eyeballs with square foot gardening -- and loving it. I purchased a dehydrator last summer and was thrilled about drying all my extra garden produce: tomatillos, zucchini, tomatoes, onions, garlic, peppers. My husband is building boxes to double our square foot garden now that we're comfortable about having incredibly abundant harvests. How delightful to find your youtube videos -- what a wonderful contribution to those of us who sense the need to stock our pantries. Your son did an amazing job with the camera work -- kudos to your family for a collaborative effort. Thanks so much!!!!
Tammy,
Happy Fourth of July! With dehydrating I have pantry FREEDOM.
The whole site is amazing...you are a good teacher!
I'm also very excited about this website. I got my dehydrator at the same time as you started your Youtube videos in January. The start-up information on dehydration and food storage was invaluable to me. I was able to practice during the winter and we bought a share in a local farm, so we have an abundance through spring / summer to store. Also, I love this format, it is very well done. I can't wait to watch more videos and try out the recipes when they go up. Thanks so much for this tremendous resource for everyone.
Hey Tammy,
Wow, what an awesome site. I've been watching your videos since April. They have been so fun and informative too. You are an awesome teacher and I can't wait to see more. Is there something wrong with my computer or are there no recipes yet. I've been copying them from the videos for now. Can't wait to try that Apple pancake.
When I first got started I mentioned how overwhelmed I felt about food storage and preparation. I didn't see how I could ever have time to dehydrate enough food for my family before what many are calling the greatest depression ever hits our economy. You have been a constant source of encouragement. You told me three months ago not to wait, just get started. Well, I'm pleased to report that I've been able to dehydrate and store enough food for 6 months. That was my goal.
Now, I'm just going to keep going. More dehydrated veggies and fruits are the priority right now since there are bountiful amounts of fresh produce at the grocery this summer and the price is right..
Your recommendation for frozen foods has been a big help too. When I'm running low on time, I just grab some bags of frozen corn or peas and throw them in the dehydrator and go to bed. This has been a big time saver.
Thanks again, Tammy. You are a real blessing to all of us.
God Bless You,
Lara in Texas
Hi Lara,
The recipe section is taking a little longer but, we are hopeful to have it up soon. Your blog gave me the greatest boost, thank you.
When I started I just wanted to reach as many people as I could. I have reached many but, still not enough. Some people laugh thinking it is silly to store food by building a pantry. I think it's a smart way of saying, " I love my family and I am prepared for you."
Lara, you are doing a very smart and caring thing and I am so proud of you. Your family is blessed to have you. Tammy
I love the lemonade video with the music! They looked like they were having so much fun! Great job!
Thanks for the new video's! What an inspiration you are packing all those beans and oatmeal! You see we need this kind of thing because I packaged 36 lbs of oatmeal this weekend and I thought that was way too much. But you are right I think I need more! I'm off to go cut up and dehydrate my 3 pineapples I bought a couple of days ago. Check in on you later!
Thank You,
Penny
we love your site over at LATOC!
thank you for all you've done to help people learn about food storage!
Hi Pamela,
I Love your site it's wonderful, please blog back and place the link for others to read. I thank everyone for the kind words and if there is anyway I can help please let me know.
Tammy
I homeschool so I do not have much time to go to the farmers market and buy big bushels of veggies, clean and cut and prep to dehydrate. So frozen has helped me a great deal to accomplish my food storage goal of 6 months of food in only 3 months (And I added toiletries and cleaning supplies to that list too). My favorite frozen items are cauli and broccoli since they are normally the hardest to clean and cut. A bag of each veggie only cost $1 at my grocery store, I have 8 trays and two dehydrators, so I grab 8 bags of each veggie at a time.
My husband thought I was nuts at first, but he has done two things for me that spoke volumes to his approval: 1, he bought me a small 7 c. ft. freezer to store all the extra meats and veggies I've been buying. He likes the fact that I'm buying meat on sale and stocking up. I think he also got sick and tired of me complaining that I didn't have enough room for all the bags of frozen veggies. and 2, he has helped me solve some of my gardening dilemnas buy building or buying stakes and trellises. So, ladies, don't give up. Just get started.
I have never done the french fries before so when I read that we could, I went out a bought 3 large bags of crinkle cut french fries. Can I just open the bag and throw them on the dehydrator? And did I read or hear that they may take a little longer?
I know I'm probably not doing this right all the time, but I've grown personally, inspired my daughter in many ways (she said she is proud of my garden since I usually kill everything I plant) and shown my family that I love them so much that I'm willing to take some ridicule to make sure that they never know what it's like to want for food.
I can't thank you enough, Tammy! Your video on soups and teas has inspired me to give herbal teas and prepackaged meals with instructions for Christmas gifts. Everyone likes a home made gift. Maybe my family will appreciate it, maybe not. But I can get started on those prepackaged bread mixes and soup mixes now and have my Christmas list completed before Halloween.
God Bless You All. Remember just get started! You'll be well on your way to a well stocked pantry before you know it.

Thanks again for ALL your help! I have three quick questions:
1. As I saw on one of your YouTube videos, I tried to make date sugar by throwing a package of chopped pitted dates on the screen along with a dehydrator full of other things. Evidently I didn't get it completely dry before I put it in my Vita-Mix blender; so it is somewhat packed on the blades.
1. My question is: if I put it on parchment paper on the trays and set it into the dehydrator, will the fan blow the grains all over the place? If so, is there any way I can get it drier for long-term storage? Or do I just plan to use it within a couple months.or so?
2. Is there any way you can consolidate the places to add comments. I want to make sure to keep up with all the flow of info, but it just takes more time to check each section individually. If the comments were all in one place, it would be handier for us.
3. Also, if the most current ones could be at the top, then we wouldn't have to scroll through all the ones we've already read. There again, it would just save a little time and be more convenient.
I don't know if this is something you can do or not, but I thought I'd ask anyway! Thanks!
hey again Tammy, I started a new thread in our gardening forum and linked to your site. I believe our members would get a lot of good ideas from your site.
http://www.doomers.us/forum2/index....
I'm hoping to have a thread with recipes and ideas for dehydrating.
Hi Tammy... great job! Congratulations. You have been very helpful to this fledging dehydrator/food-storer! Now if I can only get my wife to stop thinking I am insane and use the stuff...
Tammy, I too kept checking your website till it was up. I check it everyday and finally have found the confidence to go full steam ahead with the pantry. I am a newbie at this and you have really been a blessing to me. I look forward to learning more and I have been sharing your site with others as I tell them about what I am doing.
I look forward to the blog since I see questions I too have had and it is encouraging to think that we call all learn and share.
Thank you again
Donna
Hello Tammy, I have been canning for over 20 years and I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your site. I absolutely agree with you about the state of our economy and how important it is to be prepared for soaring food prices. My dad and I had about 2 acres of garden this year. The older he gets the bigger the garden gets. I was spending weeks in the kitchen every year canning with those heavy jars. Now, since watching your videos, I only can meats, the vegetables are put in the dehydrators. They have been running almost nonstop for about a month now. I absolutely LOVE being liberated from that hot kitchen. I hope you know how many people you helping with your easy to follow directions and hands on videos. Not all people have the time to can but everyone has the time it takes to dehydrate. It is imperrative that preparations for feeding our families are made NOW while food is still cheap and readily available. It might not be that way for long as you point out. Thank you so much, keep up the fantastic work. Narcille
I am so happy to see your blog! After watching your you tube videos, I have been super busy dehydrating. I sent your links to all my friends and most of them are dehyrating now too. Thank you for the inspiration.
I have been following you for a while on YouTube. Glad to see you have a website now. Just wanted you to know that Excalibur ought to be paying you some money. I know of 3 people that have bought one (including me) and we all love it. I sent your link to all of my friends and parents. Great site, keep up the good work.
P.S just wondering, Do you by chance listen to the Alex Jones show?
Dear Tammy,
Thank you for e-mailing me so quickly and helping me with my question. I recently started dehydrating and I love it!
I am on your site all the time it is a MUST ref tool for me! My husband was really shocked when I showed him your video on the dehydrated sweat potatoes and what they looked like after you rehydrated them!
God Bless you for sharing all your skills with the world : )
You are correct about the economy what is coming our way is going to be really bad.
Outstanding website! Thank you for the time and effort you put forth.
I learned of your site through Frugal's Forum.
You've answered questions I hadn't even thought to ask...yet. :)
I work 50-60 hours a week, and I am happy to be able to do so. I've found that I can load my little dehydrator prior to leaving for work, and have vegetables ready for packaging when I arrive home. Now that's time well used!
We have historically rotated vegetables from our freezer into the dehydrator after they had been stored 6 + months. We process this into our LTS Buckets, or jars for everyday use.
We are having sales on regionally grown veges right, so the dehydrator is pretty much going constantly. And will continue to do so, Thanks to you!
Keep up the Great Work!
Thanks again,
Prag
Tammy,
Thank you for your wonderful information and inspiration. You must have been given a "calling" and you are special for answering to it. I am already making tons of the dry soup mixes for my family and also to be able to give out as charity in times of need. I think it is a great way to provide physical needs and minister to people's spirit at the same time.
This is very generous of you Tammy, and thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I really appreciate the sincere effort you've put into making your videos usuable. Keep 'em coming!
I bought my Excalibur dehydrator nearly 2 yrs ago but never used it until I ran across your video links on a blog a few weeks ago. You have simplified it so much for me and I'm so excited to get going, finally, with my own dehydrating.
Today all nine trays are full (smells good in the house)! I never realized there was so much you could do with a dehydrator and it's MUCH easier than I thought it would be. I know what everyone will be getting for Christmas this year!!!
The more of your videos I watch, the more I love the idea of all this......I'm seriously motivated! Can't wait to start cooking with it.....your recipes look awesome...and of course SO EASY!
THANK YOU for all your hard work in putting this together for us.
a grateful thumbs up to you
Hi Tammy -
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your website and your YouTube Videos. Is there a way to view the YouTube videos directly from your website? I would love to be able to access all of your wonderful information in just one site. Also, is there a way to index what is taught in each video? When i need to refresh my memory on something, I have occasionally guessed which number video the information is in and have returned to YouTube to watch it. Sometimes i am right...sometimes i guess wrong.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. I bought a dehydrator about 4 years ago and LOVE dehydrating food. I have had trouble finding information on how to dry and use my products properly...until now! You're the greatest!
Say! If anyone knows Misti Goguen, would you please ask her if she would put her preparation instructions on the recipe page for her Egg Rolls using dehydrated cole slaw? i dehydrated cole slaw specifically to use her recipe, but I don't have a clue as to how to go about assembling it. Thanks!
The cole slaw recipe is up now!
