about our new section, and what else is new!
Hi everyone! The new recipes section is up, but still being worked on! I will be adding a bunch of new recipes tomorrow, and you can add your own! Simply sign up with a member name and password (remember its free!) and then go to the recipes section and click to add your own! Then title your creation, type in the ingredients and then the steps for preperation. Your recipe will not be added right away because it first must go through us to be edited. If you wish you may also upload a photo of your finished product. I have recieved some e-mails stating that the recipes section has a couple bugs. So if you are trying to add recipes and are having problems, or notice that my recipe preperation steps are out of order, dont worry! we will have it fixed very fast! Until then you can find the directions in the correct order in the 'oven apple pancake' video by clicking on the link through the recipe page. Also there will be a new video of my first dehydrating class posted this friday, and we are still working on choosing a server, but we're shooting for this week so the speeds of the videos should be much faster soon. Thanks for your support, stay tuned for more!

Love the site! I made the Apple Oven Pancake- delicious! My toddler calls it Apple Pie Pancake. However the directions as written seem a little jumbled and being unfamiliar with the recipe it took a little re-reading and sorting figure it out. I look forward to additions to your site!
Thanks Liz
Yeah!
I am looking forward to everything.
Hi Liz! Thats fantastic, and adorable! Im so glad you and your child liked it. Sorry about the directions, they are jumbled because of a glitch with the program. Many of the back-end tools for this site were designed from scratch just for me based on my needs, so they are first time programs and sometimes have some bugs to work out. I have already contacted our website designer and that problem will be fixed a.s.a.p. Once it is fixed I will be adding tons more recipes. Thank You :-D
I have been viewing your site for two days now and
my dehydrator has been going non stop since I found your site. Can't wait for the recipes and more ideas. Love it all. I have been sharing your site with everyone I talk to and posted it on my blog:) You are amazing and such a giving person. THANK YOU!
This is off topic, but what an adoreable grandson! I can't wait to make the fruit pudding recipe for mine.
Thanks!!!!!!
I sure appreciate all the effort you have gone through. I have four different dehydrators and you have inspired me to pull them out and use them. My stuff never looked as good as yours so I really appreciate your insights. I am looking forward to your every post and the actual plans for the pantry. What a lovely woman you are to share this with others.
Tammy,
I had a question about the quick bread recipe. The printed version says 9 cups of flour. However on your video for quick bread you say to add 8 cups of flour. Which is correct? Thanks again for all of your hard work.
Hi Jan, Im sorry , there is a typo on the recipe I will fix that right away. Thank you for pointing that out.
Tammy do you think it would be possible to have some way to rate the recipes once we've tried them or to comment on methods or substitutions?
Recipe results...
Hey everyone, I wanted to share some recipe results per Tammy's request. I've been using a lot more of my dehydrated/dried/freeze dried foods more recently. I tried the chicken and veggie soup recipe on this site recently. I made a few modifications because of the ingredients I was using. But here is the bottom line:
It was fantastic! Easy and very do-able. I substituted Chicken flavored TVP (textured vegetable protien) for real chicken. I did this because I've recently added meat flavored TVP to my long term food storage at the suggestion of many other long-term storage friends on the internet. I had never heard of this product before so I bought a sample from Honeyville Grains and gave it a try. It was wonderful. I would like to recommend that you add the TVP to the pot half way through cooking and remember 4 cups of real chicken equals about 1 cup of dried TVP. The TVP absorbs a lot of water and expands. If you use real chicken, than keep everything the same. I also decided I would add the rice at the same time as the TVP since it was a little mushy in the end.
It is a great "fix it and forget about it" kind of meal as long as you can make it back to add the last of the ingredients about 2 hours before it's done cooking. I plan to use this during the winter months. It's about 100 degrees here in Texas so eating soup was a stretch for my family but they enjoyed it anyway.
Having dehydrated veggies already in my pantry eliminated going to the store to get what I needed. Dehydrating all types of produce has been a real blessing for us as I don't have to worry about whether I have it in the refrig. and/or if it's gone bad. So dehydrate while everything is in season and fresh.

It is probably a good idea to have some "emergency" food in your home in the event of a weather emergency, for example.
Have enough water for each person in your home. You can store "non-perishable" items like soup cans, energy bars, etc.- nothing that would spoil if your refrigerator broke or shut down.
Have enough meds as well. If you are snowed in you want enough meds to get you through until the snow either melts or is removed.
Check the expiration dates on your food, too. Stuff from the 1990s may be a bit yucky about this time.
The Red Cross has something on its website about "emergency kits" or something like that. It's a good idea to have some stuff ready to go.
