Roots Auction, Pennsylvania, My new friend, and my new webpage

A few weeks ago I went to the Roots auction in Pennsylvania (See video in video section) where I had an incredible time and got a boat load of produce for only about 60 dollars! ...
Then when I got home I rushed right to my dehydrator and dehydrated it all. I purchased cases of green beans, squash, scallions, zucchini, summer squash, carrots, papaya, and yellow beans. I would have stayed all day if I could!
I want to give a special thanks to my new good friend Kelly for pointing this auction out to me. We met online and she told me of the Roots Auction where you can get tons of fresh produce for unbelievable prices. Kelly came down just to spend the day with me and show me the ropes and I am so grateful! It was an absolute blast and I encourage everyone to find a local produce auction near you. Going to events such as this are incredible tools to help build your pantry, secure yourself and your family, and save money. Because I want everyone to experience what Kelly so graciously showed me, I am creating a new section on my website!
This section-to-be will include all of the resources I know of to help you with food storage, including produce auctions and canneries in areas all over the US. You will also be able to add locations of produce auctions or events you know of. Also I will have links to companies and products I have PERSONALLY used and found to be reliable, affordable, and fair. I have had so many people asking where I purchase all my items such as vacuum bags, oxygen packs, vacuum sealer, ball jars, and the list goes on and on. In this new section I will have all the resources you will need to prepare yourself. Gathering information and encoding a webpage takes time, so I do ask that you be patient while we work to bring this information to you, but while you wait I will, of course, always be answering questions :-) I will keep you posted with the progress of this page.
I will also be going to another auction with Kelly this summer, and I encourage anyone in the area to check it out! It is called the Cumberland Produce Auction and is outside of Shippensburg PA. I will keep everyone posted when I learn more about location and time of this auction. Thank You- Tammy-

Tammy you just amaze me with all that you do for everyone, I love what you stand for and all your time, effort and resources you share so willingly with everyone! I am glad to have you as a guide for dehydrating! I can't wait for the new section; it sounds like an awesome idea and helps us all help each other get great deals in our areas better, fantastic! Keep up the great work so many of us really appreciate it!
That looked like a whole lot of fun and you got a great deal. I wonder if we have a root auction here. I'll have to find out, but I don't think I could go on my own. I'd have to have a Kelly with me. lol
Hello from B.C. Canada!! I've watched you on youtube forever and now I'm enjoying this site even more!! I LOVE dehydrating and wanted to thank you so much for all your work. I truly have learned so much from you that will help my family financially and also help us to eat healthier. I've dehydrated for years but just upgraded to an Excalibur a few months ago and I'm loving it. I check your site almost everyday for any new info you have for us!! Thank you so much, and also your family for supporting you.
Comment #1 by Ashley expresses so very well what I'd like to say as well. It is an incredible thing to find some one so unselfish and committed to helping others as you are, Tammy! We DO appreciate it!
If Misti Goguen reads this, would you mind to put the instructions on your egg rolls? I'd really like to try them, but I don't know what to do. Thanks!
Also, I'd like to know if you can dehydrate dill pickles. I have a BUNCH of cucumbers and I'd like some advice on what to do with them!
Thanks!

Hi Lowizysue,
Thank you for your kind words.
I have to say Kelly said it best when she said,
"This is every ones web site where we all learn from each other."
I don't know all, I'm not the best but, with all our heads together I feel very smart and confident.
Pickles......first dehydrate the cucumbers then when you want pickles you cook your pickle juice on the stove to a boil. Place your sliced dehydrated cucumbers in a glass jar ( do not fill the jar more then 1/3 with cucumber slices) pour into the jar your hot pickle juice. Place the lid on the cucumbers, let cool and place into the refrigerator over night and the next day you have a jar of pickles.
Again, thank you all so much.
Tammy
Hi Tammy,
This is Kelly from Root's auction. Just wanted to let you know that I'm heading to the Cumberland Valley Produce auction this Friday. It has large quantities of local produce. The prices are wonderful and the food is excellent quality. I'll let you know what treasures I find there. People can check to see if there's a produce auction in their area by googling produce auction and then the name of their state. We're fortunate to have many within an hour's drive.
By the way, Tammy is just as nice in person as she appears in her vidoes. Within 5 minutes of meeting her I felt that we were old friends. She certainly is a special person to share all this information with everyone. Everyone at the auction just loved her. If no one was bidding on an item at the auction, the auctioneer would just ask her if she wanted it. It was a ton of fun and I look forward to doing it again.
Thanks for all the great information and videos. Keep them coming.
Kelly
Wow, what a wealth of information you have in all your videos. I have yet to dehydrate food but I caught your vidoes on youtube and I'm amazed with everything you can do with dehyrated food. I can't wait to get started and save money in the process. Thank you.
So I've been pulling up the Fedex tracker 3x (or more) a day--waiting for my Excalibur to come! We see society (and our finances) turning and we want to be prepared, as well as finding a way to stretch our money in the meantime. THANK YOU for inspiring me, for getting me excited. I am searching for auctions in my area and will let you know if I find any, for any other North Carolina readers you may have.
Hi Tammy, could you please put the directions to the egg rolls made with coleslaw mix on the recipe page. I was going to make them and then realized there were no instructions. Thank you, Rose P.S. Love the site and I purchased an Excaliber.
it is very nice
