How to Dehydrate Watermelon:

Dehydrated watermelon is the perfect on-the-go summer snack! Slice in thin strips for Twizzler-like healthy candy, in big slices for a tearable treat, or in small cubes for handheld gummies.

They are light weight and will last many years if stored properly.

Instructions:

  • Slice your watermelon into 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch slices (or 1/2 inch slices if you desire to make “gummy” cubes) and remove the rind.
  • Further slice into strips or halves if desired, or cube into 1/2 x 1/2 inch cubes.
  • Evenly spread on your dehydrator tray.
  • Dehydrate at 125 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-14 hours.
  • Store in a vacuum and Mylar bag or jar with oxygen pack

Dryness Check:

A properly dehydrated watermelon slice will not feel wet or overly sticky, and should be malleable but easily torn. The cubes should feel soft and chewy but not wet and slimy. If yours do not feel this way, just put them back in the dehydrator for a few more hours!
